ATP: Doping offender Evans suspended until April 2018

The British Davis Cup player Daniel Evans has been banned for one year because of cocaine abuse.The ban will enter into force retroactively, so that the 27-year-old will be released on 24 January 2009.April 2018 entitled to play again.This was announced by the ITF on Tuesday.

Evans, now only ranked 108 in the world, had been tested for cocaine in April and immediately admitted guilt:”I made a mistake and will suffer the consequences:” He took the drug “outside the competition and in a context that had nothing to do with tennis”.

Evans has been playing for the British Davis Cup team since 2009, but was not part of the line-up for the British team’s final victory against Belgium in December 2015.
