ATP: Nadal without mercy

World number one Rafael Nadal won his first match at the Masters tournament in Shanghai.

Nadal won 6-2,6-1 over Jared Donaldson of the USA after just under an hour’s play.The 21-year-old was only able to keep the match open until 2-2 in the first round, after which Nadal moved away and extended his winning streak to 13 mandatory matches without defeat.

The Spaniard was untouchable, especially on his own serve, scoring 85 percent of the points on the first serve and even 100 percent on the second serve – Donaldson scored just 14 percent.

Nadal will now face Fabio Fognini of Italy, who beat him three times in twelve games, most recently in 2015 at the US Open.However, Nadal has won four times since then.
