ATP: Andy Murray finally ends his tennis year 2017

Andy Murray, who started the current season as industry leader, will not be competing in 2017 due to his hip problems.This has now been finally decided after the cancellation of the Masters tournament in Paris-Bércy.

Now it’s official, the tournament organisers and tennis fans alike can be assured that Andy Murray will not be using the racket in 2017.The Scot, who started the season in first place in the world ranking, withdrew his nomination for the last ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year in Paris-Bércy due to persistent hip pain.The option to serve at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna and defend his title has been cancelled.

Murray had recently made a last comeback attempt before the US Open, was even drawn into the tableau – and then had to retire.The result was a raster half, which lacked a clear favorite.And in which Kevin Anderson was able to play his way into a Grand Slam finale for the first time.

The last game on points was played by the two-time gold medallist in Wimbledon, where he lost to Sam Querrey.A man who could replace Murray (such as Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori) with a place at the ATP finals in London.
