ATP:”DelPo”: title defence and finals dream

Juan Martín del Porto told Intrum Stockholm Open about his wrist on Media Day and revealed a little final dream.

The Argentinean gave himself in his first official appearance in Stockholm, always friendly and open.The focus was mainly on the wrist of the top star.At the Masters-1000-Tournament in Shanghai, the “serve giant” fell on his weakness during the quarter-final against Victor Troicki.DelPo “missed many months due to recurrent injuries on the left wrist.After several minutes of treatment, Del Potro went on and he entered the semi-finals.

Now he explained to the press in Stockholm:”Thank God the wrist is fine.I had a break the past few days and trained without pain today,”del Potro said confidently.

The Argentinean is the reigning tournament winner in Sweden and is willing to repeat his triumph from last year.According to the 29-year-old, he feels 100 percent.

For the coming season del Potro wants to continue its ranking upward.The current number 19 in the world worked its way back into the top 20 after a long period of abstinence – too little for the former US Open winner:”I have the chance to continue to rise in the ranking.I skipped the Australian Open this year and didn’t play almost the whole sand season.I also dropped out in Wimbledon in the first round,”explained the “Tower of Tandil”.

He wants to finish the season as good as he can and infect the other goals at the back, del Potro continues.

Due to the long absence, the Argentinean was able to collect points in almost every tournament.In the race for the places for the ATP World Tour Finals, however, the 29-year-old gives himself only few chances; but the participation in London remains a dream nonetheless:”I haven’t played there for five or six years and it will be difficult this year as well.I’m far from qualifying, but it would be a dream to play there,”admitted the man with the forehand whip.

Del Potro is on the entry list for the upcoming tournament in Basel and the last Masters of the year in Paris Bércy.There “DelPo” has the possibility to collect some points.
