ATP:”Good Guy” Kyrgios gives away rackets

Australian Nick Kyrgios visited a primary school in his native Canberra and presented the children with new tennis rackets as part of his NK Foundation.

Together with his foundation NK Foundation, which takes care of the integration of children in need of help in sports facilities, the currently injured Australian distributed tennis rackets to the pupils.

On Twitter, the headmistress of Tennis Australia thanked her compatriot and posted a picture of Kyrgios giving a racket to a child.

In general, Kyrgios is involved in social projects and thus contradicts his “bad boy image”, which he has created by his unprofessional and loutish behaviour on the court.

Before announcing that Kyrgios will have to end the 2017 season prematurely due to a hip injury, the world’s 21st number caused a sensation at the Masters-1000 tournament in Shanghai. In his opening match, Kyrgios gave up after a 5-7 defeat of Steve Johnson in the first set, feeling unfairly treated by the audience and the referee. The Australian’s last match on the ATP tour this year was in his last match of the quarter-final defeat against Ruben Bemelmans in Rotterdam. In December Kyrgios will return to the square and play a charity match against Juan Martín del Potro in Buenos Aires.
