WTA: Burglars capture 400,000 US dollars
During the US Open 2017 Venus Williams’ house was robbed by burglars. The perpetrators captured items worth six-digit dollars.
The elder sister of Serena Williams will not like this at all: Venus Williams was the victim of a robbery with considerable financial damage. Palm Beach Gardens police in Florida announced that the robbery had stolen items valued at approximately $400,000.
The act happened during the U. S. Open in September and is reported by the police authority in the period between the 1. September and 5. It was classified as of September 9. At that time, Williams was at the tournament in New York and reached the semi-finals, which she lost to eventual winner Sloane Stephens.
The police did not want to disclose details of the stolen items.
In June 2017, Williams was involved in a car accident in which one person died. The investigation in this case continues. Initially, the incident wanted to be processed by the police behind closed doors before a television station reported on it and published the news.
That Williams in the robbery had luck in misfortune proves the dramatic incident of Petra Kvitova last year. The Czech woman was taken by surprise by a burglar in her home country and was badly injured at her left hand. Only last summer Kvitova made her comeback and has been working her way up the rankings ever since.
