WTA: #AceQueens: Pliskova again the best one
Karolina Pliskova is for the third time in a row the best racket of the WTA-Tour of the year. Close followed by the best German tennis player Julia Görges.
It’s not only in men that there are good serveers. Some of the ladies also have a hard and profitable service. The Czech Karolina Pliskova is once again unbeatable in this category. For the third year in a row, the 25-year-old beat the most service winners with 452 aces. One reason for the high number is probably the size of 1.86 meters:”It’s definitely true that I’m tall, have long arms and everything is a bit lighter for me,”Pliskova explained after the tournament in Wimbledon. Despite the early elimination, Pliskova became number one in the world for the first time after the Grand Slam tournament.
The best German tennis player Julia Görges is ranked second in the ranking of the most aces. Bad Oldesloerin served 412 serves for the first time in one season. This is one of the reasons why the 29-year-old is ranked 14th in the ranking and captured two titles in 2017. Pliskova and Görges, however, have something else in common: the two impact cannons played doubles every now and then and so some opponents were afraid.
Pliskova’s twin sister Kristyna Pliskova completes the top 3 with 372 aces.
In addition, the number three in the ranking holds the record for the most aces in a match. It beat Monica Puig at the Australian Open 31 times in the opponent’s service field. To date, Sabine Lisicki from Germany was at the top of the list with 27 serve winners in a single game.
