ATP Challenger: The next chance in the Munich area
Tennis is booming in and around Munich: The IsarOpen is the second Challenger tournament to be held in the immediate vicinity of the Bavarian state headquarters in 2018.
If you want to extend your clay court season a little longer from the ATP circus, you will have an excellent opportunity to do so next year – and you don’t have to travel long: The trip from the Generali Open in Kitzbühel, which will take place on the 4th of May in Kitzbühel. In the south of Munich, TC Grosshesselohe can easily be reached in two hours with normal traffic. And it is definitely advisable to visit the facility, where Florian Mayer has been playing his Bundesliga matches since last year, at any time.
127,000 US dollars will be awarded as prize money at the “IsarOpen 2018”, the tournament will be part of the ATP-Challenger series. 32 players in the singles, plus 16 pairs of doubles will start in Pullach. After the first match of the Challengers in Ismaning this autumn, which was won by the German Davis Cup player Yannick Hanfmann, there are now two possibilities to collect points on the second ATP level in the greater Munich area.
“The IsarOpen, which is planned as an exclusive event in a familiar setting, is one of the largest ATP Challenger tournaments in Germany and is an ideal match for the TCG’s self-image. We are pleased that up to 20,000 spectators will get to know our beautiful facility on site”, explained the President of TC Grosshesselohe, Bernard Eßmann.
And it’s also an opportunity for sand court experts to postpone the trip to the hard court tournaments in the USA by one week.
