WTA: Four months after birth: Rittner trusts Williams with everything in Melbourne
After the birth of her daughter, Barbara Rittner (44) believes that the comeback at the Australian Open would only be a good four months ago – yet Barbara Rittner (44) believes that the 23-times Grand Slam winner Serena Williams in Melbourne is capable of making a coup.
She is so deeply relaxed, she posts such cute pictures of her little daughter:”When she’s around, no matter what her condition, she’s always available for anything,”Rittner said on Thursday at a press conference in Hamburg.
Williams (36) had daughter Alexis Olympia jr. to the world. The first Grand Slam Tournament of the season starts on the 15th. January, Williams already won seven times in Melbourne – 2017 in the seventh week of pregnancy.
“I don’t believe that until I see her there, too – it’s been a relatively short time,”said Rittner, Head of Women’s Tennis at the DTB, about a possible start for Williams:”At the same time, I also know what she is capable of when she wants something – with her stubborn head”.
Tournament director Craig Tiley had recently announced that Williams wants to play in Melbourne in 2018:”She has been given a visa, she has trained, she has reported,”he told the daily Herald Sun:”So there is no doubt in our minds that she will be ready.”.
