German Championships: Masur and Korpatsch win the title in Biberach

Daniel Masur and Tamara Korpatsch won the individual titles at the German Indoor Championships in Biberach with three-set victories.

For the 46. German Championships in Biberach, Daniel Masur (Tennispark Versmold) and Tamara Korpatsch (Club an der Alster) have won the titles. Masur (ATP 346) defeated Marvin Möller (Rahlstedter HTC, ATP 622) in the final with 2:6,6:3,6:2, the top seeded Korpatsch (WTA 167) defeated Katharina Hobgarski (BASF TC Ludwigshafen, WTA 281) from the Porsche Talent Team of the German Tennis Association in three sets with 5:7,6:0,6:0,6:1. For both of them it is their first triumph in the national championships:”The title means a lot to me, first of all because I had already lost in the final three years ago. I was a bit tense at the beginning, but fortunately I was able to improve more and more in the course of the game. The triumph is the perfect year-end,”says Masur. Tamara Korpatsch was also relieved after her final victory over Katharina Hobgarski:”Being German Champion feels great, of course. I started the match nervously, also because of the crowd. In the second set I changed my game and varied my tempo more, so I was able to turn the game around. I’m so glad I didn’t even make it to the semi-finals here in Biberach before.”

Already on Saturday Lena Rüffer and Yannick Maden (both TEC Waldau) had won the mixed title. They defeated Hobgarski and Rudolf Molleker (Rot-Weiß Berlin) in the final game with 1:6,6:3,11-9.

A positive conclusion at the end of the tournament week, the ninth edition in Biberach, Germany, was drawn by DTB Vice President Thomas Heil:”We were able to experience outstanding sport for a whole week, with many exciting matches and two top-class finals at the end. Stefan Hofherr, who has already acted as Tournament Director nine times this year, will be the successor of Schmid, who has accompanied the German Championships nine times in his capacity as Tournament Director. The new Fed Cup captain Jens Gerlach also visited the event in Biberach.
