ATP: Kyrgios wins semi-final defeat against Dimitrov in Brisbane

Nick Kyrgios has won the eagerly awaited semi-final against Grigor Dimitrov at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Brisbane in three sets. In Doha and Pune, the finalists have also been decided.

The Australian Open can come! Just over a week before the start of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, Nick Kyrgios presents himself in ascending form. The local hero won the final round in Brisbane on Saturday morning (CET) 3-6,6-1,6-4 against defending champions Grigor Dimitrov.

With 19 aces, Kyrgios fired into the final against Ryan Harrison. The American defeated Alex de Minaur in the first semi-final with 4:6,7:6 (5) and 6:4. While the third-placed Australian is already playing for his fourth title on the tour, Harrison will be playing for second place on Sunday.

At the parallel hard court tournament in Doha, Gael Monfils and Andrey Rublev meet in the final. The up-and-coming Russian had defeated Guido Pella from Argentina 6-2,4-6,7-6,7-6 (2) in the semi-final. Monfils moved on without a fight as Dominic Thiem could not compete due to a feverish cold.

In Pune, India, the final between Gilles Simon and Kevin Anderson takes place. The nimble Frenchman had the upper hand in the semi-final against top seeded Croatian Marin Cilic after three sets, and Anderson also had to go the full distance in a duel with Benoit Paire. The ATP World Tour 250 tournament was held in Chennai from 1997 to 2017.
