Australian Open: Qualification: German men give themselves (almost) no nakedness

The first round of qualifying for the Australian Open was a complete success for the German men. Four of the five representatives are in the next round.

Very strong performance of the German men in Melbourne. Five representatives were in the first round of qualifying – four of them have reached the next round.

In the end, Dustin Brown clearly won against Guido Andreozzi from Argentina. After a sovereign 6:3 in the first set “Dreddy” weakened a bit and lost the second set 3:6. Brown found his way back on track, benefited from his strong serve and won again 6:3.

Tobias Kamke also had a good day and made it through the first round of qualifying after a three-set match. Kamke had a difficult start after 35 minutes and was trailing Prajnesh Gunneswaran from India 4:6. Kamke then increased, grabbed the second set with a clear 6:1 and also kept the upper hand with 6:2 in the decisive round.

The third one in Matthais Bachinger’s group had a hard chunk in his face. With Sergej Stakhovsky, he was faced by an experienced player who also won the first set 6:4. The second set turned out to be a hanging game, which Bachinger won in the tiebreak 7:4 and also had the advantage in set three with 6:3.
