Australian Open: Mona Barthel loses in Round Two

Mona Barthel dropped out of the Australian Open in the second round. The world rankings-53. from Neumünster was defeated by the Estin Anett Contacts at position 32 after 1:36 hours 3:6,6:4,3:6.

Last year, Barthel reached the last sixteen in Melbourne as a qualifier. As one of four German players, the 27-year-old had survived her opening match at the first Grand Slam tournament of the tennis season.

While Julia Görges (Bad Oldesloe/No. 12) will play on Wednesday, Angelique Kerber (Kiel/No. 21) and Andrea Petkovic (Darmstadt) will play their second round games on Thursday.
