WTA: Caro sets the tone, Angie again top ten

After a six-year break, Caroline Wozniacki has regained the number one spot in the world, Angelique Kerber is once again among the top ten.

Serena Williams may not have been able to watch her good friend Caroline Wozniacki’s final on TV because of all the excitement. Within the top ten, Jelena Ostapenko (currently number six) and Caroline Garcia (now seven) were able to hijack career best marks, while Angelique Kerber, with her inspiring run into the semi-finals, managed to return to ninth place and thus to the Bel Etage. Venus Williams, who lost more than 1,200 points in her first round defeat against Belinda Bencic, is still ahead of Kerber.

Julia Görges remains in twelfth place, while semi-finalist Elise Mertens has made a leap up 17 positions: the Belgian is now ranked 20th.

Mona Barthel is one of the losers of the week, the German Fed Cup aspirant lost 24 positions and is now 77th.
