Davis Cup: Curiosities: Fognini runs to the toilet during doubles

During the doubles match in the Davis Cup between Italy and Japan there was a curious scene – very much to entertain the spectators.

This was certainly not a voluntary departure – but an extremely curious one. In the Davis Cup doubles match between Italy and Japan, Fabio Fognini made the spectators laugh.

After an emotional volley for the 6:6 in the third set, the Italian sprinted from the place towards the exit. Partner Simone Bolelli and the opponents looked puzzled, as did the referee. She asked Fognini to stay on his feet and asked him what he was planning to do. The Italian joker said briefly and succinctly that he urgently needed to go to the toilet. The referee let him in and Fognini was relieved. The spectators had their fun and Fognini the laughter on his side.

In the end, Fognini/Bolelli won in four sets.
