US Open: This will be new for fans in 2018

The price-performance ratio of the US Open is better than any other major. This will remain so even after the rebuilt Louis Armstrong Stadium opens.

Last year, the new Louis Armstrong Stadium at the National Tennis Center in New York was already visible as a scaffolding for visitors to the US Open – in the 2018 edition, the stadium is already available in full splendour. This means: roofed if necessary and of course in the evening. The good news for the fans is that, like their predecessor, the classic Louis Armstrong, they have reserved the lowest seats – but even those who hold a ground ticket have a good chance of seeing the matches on the second largest court. This was announced by the organizer, USTA, in a press release.

The same rule had already been applied to the Grand Stand, which was also newly erected, the court on which both Alexander Zverev (against Borna Coric) and Dominic Thiem (against Juan Martin del Potro) had to bid farewell in 2017.

A unique opportunity at the four Grand Slam tournaments – in Australia, Wimbledon and Paris, spectators need extra tickets for the big show courts next to the main square.

There will also be innovations in the game plan: In the Arthur Ashe Stadium only two matches in the Day and Night Session will be played. The daily activities will start from 2018 at 12:00 local time, one hour later than usual. The Louis Armstrong Stadium also hosts a separate night session, but three matches per day precede it. At least that’s the plan for the first nine days of the tournament, which, as we all know, are busy.
