ATP/WTA: LTA reveals huge difference between men and women’s salary payments

Statistics on salaries of women and men employed by the British Tennis Association are causing a stir. The difference between the sexes is immense.

The Lawn Tennis Association takes care of the men’s and women’s pros on the island in the UK – but that’s not all: LTA also represents the many employees who take care of the pros during the tournaments and take care of the organisation.

According to a rule of the British Government, every organisation and every company has to partially disclose internal figures. Now it turned out that the earnings of the LTA vary greatly between men and women. On average, the male employees earn about 32 percent more than their female colleagues.

In addition, the bonus payments for men are 55 percent higher than for women. This is the result of an analysis in 2017.

“We cannot be satisfied with this and will try to close this gap as soon as possible,” explained LTA boss David Gregson. The issue is to be addressed openly:”The lack of diversity and gender imbalance – especially at management level – must be addressed”.

The reason for the difference between men and women is said to be the fact that more men work in higher positions than women.
