ATP: Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic make it to the semi-finals of Indian Wells
Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic had no problems with the Australian Open winners Marc and Feliciano Lopez and are now in the semi-finals of Indian Wells.
Night shifts are nothing new for Oliver Marach and his Croatian partner: be it last year in the Wimbledon final or this season’s first Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne, where Marach/Pavic won their first major title. At the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, they beat the Spanish pairing Feliciano and Marc Lopez 6-4 and 6-4 in the last match of the day and are thus in the semi-finals.
John Isner and Jack Sock, two local heroes who had already beaten Ivan Dodig and Rajeev Ram the day before, are waiting there. In the second semi-final Bob and Mike Bryan will face the South American pairing of Pablo Cuevas and Horacio Zeballos.
Pavic and Marach were the dominant team throughout the entire season and did not have to give up a single serve during the 74 minutes of play. One break per set was enough to make it clear that they would enter the semi-finals in cool conditions.
Alexander Peya and Philipp Petzschner also experienced a level of success: The German-Austrian duo also reached the semi-finals at the ATP Challenger tournament in Irving. The two veterans will now play Wesley Koolhof and Artem Sitak.
