ATP Challenger/Future: Round-up: Petzschner/Peya triumph in Irving

Philipp Petzschner won the high-class double tournament at the ATP-Challenger-Event in Irving (USA) at the side of the Austrian Alexander Peya. Christoph Negritu triumphed at future level in Tunisia.

Petzschner/Peya won the final 6:2, 6:4 against Radu Albot and Matthew Ebden. In the first round of the $150,000 hard court tournament, the unseeded duo had already eliminated former world number one Henri Kontinen and his Australian doubles partner John Peers.

For the 33-year-old former Wimbledon and US Open champion, it was the 20 double title in a Challenger tournament.

Another double winner, but at future level: Christoph Negritu in Hammamet/Tunisia (15,000 US dollars). The 23-year-old won here with Alexander Merino against Hernan Casanova/Eduardo Agustin Torre 6:3, 3:6,[10:5]. It was Negritu’s fourth ITF career title in doubles.

In Bakersfield/USA (25,000 US dollars) Jan Choinski played his way into the final, which he lost against the top seeded Frenchman Mathias Bourge 2:6, 3:6.

Also in doubles, the tournament week for a total of five Germans only ended in the final: Christian Hirschmüller/David Novotny in Poiters/France (15,000 US dollars), Jakob Sude with his Swiss partner Adrian Bodmer in Heraklion/Greece (15,000 US dollars) and Katharina Gerlach with Lena Rüffer in Santa Margherita Di Pula/Italy (25,000 US dollars).

In addition, semi-finals in the singles: Jeremy Jahn in Porec/Croatia, Daniel Altmaier in Doha/Qatar, Natalia Siedlinska in Heraklion/Greece and Caroline Werner in Ramat Hasharon/Israel (all 15,000 US dollars).

The latter also made it into the double semi-finals at the hard court tournament in Israel. Also in the round of the last four in doubles: Kai Wehnelt in Doha/Qatar and Lisa-Marie Mätschke in Gonesse/France (both 15,000 US dollars).
