Australian Open semi-finalist Hyeon Chung (South Korea/21) will play at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle as well as the Russian Andrej Rublev, whom he defeated in Milan in the final of the Junior World Championship.
Hyeon Chung is also in the MercedesCup in the Swabian metropolis, as is the three year younger Canadian Denis Shapovalov, currently the world’s youngest top 50 player in position 46.
“Chung has won millions of fans around the world with his attractive game. He will certainly play a role in the fight for the title,” said Halle tournament director Ralf Weber, who will welcome defending champion Roger Federer and 2011 winner Philipp Kohlschreiber (Augsburg) back on the course.
