ATP: Federer coach Ivan Ljubicic: “Working with Roger is complicated”

Ivan Ljubicicic and Roger Federer have been a successful team for some time. Now Coach Ljubicic admits that working with his protégé is not always easy.

You’d think it would be easy to train a player like Roger Federer. A player who naturally masters almost the entire repertoire and instinctively plays tennis. Federer’s coach Ivan Ljubicic has now revealed that this is not the case.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the former top player talked about working with the world’s most successful player.

At the opening of an academy in Italy, Ljubicicic said: “My work with Roger is complicated. It is simply difficult to teach a player who can do almost anything, Ljubicic said.

That requires a certain amount of ingenuity. In order to improve Federer even further, Ljubicicic is trying to bring an idea for improvement to Federer with the necessary ease. “This is a big and important part,” says Ljubicic.

Federer’s talent for tennis is undisputed and probably unique. Together with Ljubicicic, Federer has been able to expand his collection of titles over the past few years and has returned to the top of the world rankings. At the moment, the Swiss is in second place after deciding to skip the clay court season again. However, Federer could become number one again next week – if Rafael Nadal doesn’t win the tournament in Monte Carlo. However, the Spaniard is in great form and returned impressively after a hip injury and promoted the Spanish Davis Cup team to the semi-finals with two victories over Germany.

However, should “Rafa” lose on the Red Ashes in the Principality, Federer would again be number one in the world from Monday. Federer plans his first appearance on the tour after the break in Stuttgart before heading for Wimbledon and the possible ninth title.
