ATP: Federer in the Times: Bill Gates’ great honour and hymn of praise

Roger Federer is the most successful tennis player of all time. Now the Swiss was voted one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Times magazine and was showered with praise by Bill Gates.

Every year the renowned Times magazine selects the most influential people in the world. In the category “Titans” you will find Tesla boss Elon Musk, talk show legend Oprah Winfrey and Roger Federer. A great honour for the 36-year-old, who adorns one of the six covers of the magazines.

Several times Gates and Federer played together in doubles at the charity event “Match for Africa” and collected donations for a good cause. A friendship connects the two heavyweights. Commenting on Federer’s sporting career, Gates said: “He is one of those rare, supernatural athletes who seems to be at least partially freed from certain physical laws.

But that wasn’t enough praise for the 20-time Grand Slam champion. Federer’s work next to the square and his commitment to social projects is exemplary and remarkable, Gates is quoted.

Gates even took part in a hymn of praise: “Roger and his team are committed to improving the prospects of poor children. “It will be a sad day for all of us when Federer gives up his bat, but we can take comfort in knowing that he is committed to making the world a fairer place.”
