ATP: Struff defeats Masur in first round of Munich
Jan-Lennard Struff has defeated Daniel Masur in round one at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Munich. The Warsteiner won 7:6 (1) and 6:4.
Successful start for Jan-Lennard Struff in Munich: The German Davis Cup player won the duel with Daniel Masur, currently number 401 in the ATP world ranking, 7:6 (1) and 6:4. Masur had made it into the main field through qualification. And got off to a better start: The 23-year-old took the first break of the match for 3-2 in round one, Struff equalised immediately.
In the tiebreak, the Warsteiner dominated with his serve, leaving Masur only one point. In the second set Struff presented his service with a break. But Masur also failed as a serve – and Struff served out safely after 87 minutes.
