ATP: Thiem in Rome back on Nadal-Ast, comeback of Wawrinka

The ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid is not over yet, the grid is already set in Rome: Dominic Thiem hasn’t got it right again.

Started three times as number five in an ATP Masters 1000 tournament – three times the hardest draw possible: This is how Dominic Thiem could see it, who could also meet Rafael Nadal in Rome according to the setting in the quarter-finals. After the Madrid coup, Austria’s number one is certainly more optimistic about the grid in the eternal city. Even though the first task in Rome will not be easy: either Fabio Fognini or Gael Monfils.

Stan Wawrinka will make his comeback: the three-time major champion will return to the competition against Steve Johnson, and could face Pablo Carreno Busta in round two. Unlike Madrid, Marin Cilic will also be back on the grid.

Peter Gojowczyk will play Sam Querrey in round one, Philipp Kohlschreiber against Karen Khachanov. Denis Shapovalov, semi-finalist in Madrid, has to deal with Tomas Berdych. Novak Djokovic will play Alexandr Dolgopolov.
