Former world number one Angelique Kerber (Kiel) has effortlessly reached the quarter-finals at the WTA tournament in Rome. The 30-year-old beat the Greek Maria Sakkari 6:1, 6:1 after only 56 minutes.

Sakkari (22) surprisingly beat former number one Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) in the Italian capital on Wednesday, but had no chance against Kerber.
