WTA: Mallorca: Angelique Kerber fails due to Alison Riske

Angelique Kerber has lost her opening game at the WTA tournament on Mallorca (live on DAZN). The number eleven in the world rankings failed due to qualifier Alison Riske 7:5, 2:6, 1:6.

After the game had to be abandoned on Tuesday evening due to darkness at 7:5, 2:6, 1:1, the German could not win a single game. This is Kerber’s first loss in the fourth duel with Riske.

At the French Open, Kerber had reached the quarter-finals and only failed due to the later winner Simona Halep.

Antonia Lottner, on the other hand, has reached the round of 16 in Mallorca. The 21-year-old qualifier had already defeated Belarussian Alexandra Sasnovich on Tuesday and will now face number three seeded Anastasiya Sevastova.

Already on Wednesday afternoon Carina Witthöft and Tatjana Maria fight in a direct duel for their place in the last eight.
