ATP: Tommy Haas honored for outstanding tennis career
Former world number two in tennis, Tommy Haas, has been honored by ATP for his “outstanding career”.
ATP supervisor Miro Bratoew presented the 40-year-old Hamburg native with a collage of pictures showing the highlights of his career on Wednesday at the edge of the grass court tournament in Halle/Westphalia. Haas won the Wimbledon dress rehearsal in 2009 and 2012 and officially ended his career in March during the Masters at Indian Wells, of which he is tournament director.
Since the beginning of the year, Haas, who has been repeatedly thrown back by injuries during his active career, has been part of the coaching staff of Frenchman Lucas Pouille. In 2004 and 2012, the long-time Davis Cup player was voted “Comeback Player of the Year” by tennis professionals. Haas won a total of 15 individual titles.
