ATP: Borna Coric final opponent of Roger Federer in Halle
Borna Coric is the man who stands between Roger Federer and his tenth title at the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Halle /Westphalia. The Croatian benefited from his opponent Roberto Bautista-Agut.
The two opponents stood on the court for only 23 minutes, then Bautista-Agut had to give up due to injury. The fourth seeded Spaniard had led 3-2 at the time. Borna Coric will play for the greatest success of her career on Sunday: Last year, the 21-year-old from Zagreb won the title at the ATP World Tour 250 event in Marrakech against Philipp Kohlschreiber in the final.
In Sunday’s Fnale, Coric can now not only prevent Roger Federer’s tenth triumph in Halle/Westphalia, but also take revenge for his defeat at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells. In March of this year Federer prevailed in just under three sets. In the only duel in Dubai 2015 to date, the Swiss player had won 6:2 and 6:1.
Federer won the first semi-final of the day at the Gerry Weber Open against US qualifier Dennis Kudla 7-6 (1) and 7-5. Should the 36-year-old win the title, Federer will remain at the top of the ATP world rankings. In case of a defeat Rafael Nadal takes over the top position again.
