ATP: Marin Cilic first finalist at Queen´s Club
As last year, Marin Cilic is in the finals of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament at London’s Queen´s Club. The Croatian defeated Nick Kyrgios twice in the tiebreak.
Marin Cilic is probably ready for the big task on grass again this year – winning the Wimbledon tournament, where the Croatian defeated Roger Federer in last year’s final. In London’s Queen´s Club, Cilic is in the final, just like last year, beating Nick Kyrgios 7:6 (3) and 7:6 (4) in a close match after 86 minutes of play.
Cilic did not allow the Australian a single break throughout the match, while Kyrgios was able to fend off his opponent’s two options. In the tiebreaks, nuances were decided in favour of the 2014 US Open Champion: In set one, Kyrgios put a simple forehand close out, in round two the man from Canberra started the short decision with a double error.
In the final, Cilic will face either Novak Djokovic or Adrian Mannarino. In 2017 Feliciano Lopez won the final against Marin Cilic.
