ATP/WTA: Zverev, Kerber, Federer at the Hopman Cup again
Third in the world rankings Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) and two-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber (Kiel) once again form the German team at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia. The first highlight of the season will be the tournament from 29 December 2018 to 5 January 2019.
In 2018 the German duo Zverev/Kerber failed in the final due to 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer and his partner Belinda Bencic, who will also compete together for Switzerland again.
Federer’s appearance in Perth has paid off in the last two events: after losing to France in the final against Rafael Nadal in 2017, he won the Australian Open in the same way as he did against Marin Cilic this year.
A total of eight nations will compete for the title in two groups. Two German teams have won the tournament, which has been held since 1989 and in each match two singles and one mixed are played. Michael Stich and Steffi Graf triumphed in 1993, Boris Becker and Anke Huber in 1995. For Federer and Bencic it’s the fourth title.
Here are the winners of the Hopman Cup since 2010
