Wimbledon: First round K.O. for Mischa Zverev

Only four days after winning his first ATP title at the preparation tournament in Eastbourne, Mischa Zverev suffered a somewhat surprising first-round knockout in Wimbledon.

The older brother of Germany’s top player Alexander Zverev lost 4:6, 3:6, 4:6 to the Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert in a retro duel between two serve and volley specialists.

Thus, in the person of Alexander Zverev (Hamburg/No. 4), Philipp Kohlschreiber (Augsburg/No. 25) and Jan-Lennard Struff (Warstein), only three of a total of eight German men started the first round in the turf Mecca.
