ATP Challenger: Successful start for Maden and Kuhn
Nicola Kuhn and Yannick Maden successfully start into the Challenger tournament in Scheveningen. Tobias Kamke and Dustin Brown have to travel home from the Netherlands again.
Nicola Kuhn and Yannick Maden are in the second round of the 64,000 Euro Challenger Tournament in Scheveningen. While the top seed maggot beats the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6 (4) and 6-1, Kuhn, who has been playing for Spain for three years, has to fight Llyod Harris much more. Finally, the Innsbruck native defeated his South African opponent 6:1, 6:7 (1) and 6:3.
In the second round Maden now meets his compatriot Marvin Netuschil. Kuhn, who has a new coach at Iván Navarro’s side for a short time now, has to deal with the Hungarian Attila Balazs.
The sand court tournament is already over for Dustin Brown and Tobias Kamke. Both lose their second round games in three more rounds after winning the first set. Kamke was beaten 6-4, 6-7(4) and 4-6 by the Czech Lukas Rosol, who caused a sensation by beating Rafael Nadal in Wimbledon in 2012. “Dreddy” loses to Alessandro Gianessi 6-4, 2-6 and 3-6.
At least in the double competition, however, Brown and his partner Andre Begemann still have hope of winning the tournament. The duo are already in the semi-finals after a 7-5 and 6-3 win over Geoffrey Blancaneaux and Antoine Hoang of France.
