In her first game, Görges had already won over Viktoria Kuzmova from Slovakia.
Laura Siegemund (Metzingen) caused a surprise, who won her first round match at the 750,000 dollar sand court tournament against Alize Cornet from France, who was seeded 7th, 4:6, 6:2, 6:3. In the round of the last 16, the 30-year-old will face Kateryna Kozlowa from Ukraine.
Görges, who failed in Wimbledon in the semi-final against Serena Williams (USA) at the biggest success of her career, now has to deal with Olga Danilovic from Serbia in the Russian capital. The 187th of the world rankings had slipped into the main draw as Lucky Loser and had attracted attention with a success over Estonian Kaia Kanepi (No. 8).
