ATP Finals: Hamburg Final! Successful duo Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic already qualified for finals
The Austrian-Croatian duo Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic qualified early for the Nitto ATP finals in London. Decisive for this is the participation in the final of the ATP tournament in Hamburg.
The participation in the ATP finals in London is the logical consequence of the outstanding season of Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic.
The Austrian and Croatian are among the title contenders for each tournament in 2018 and the doubles have meanwhile taken the lead in the double world rankings.
The 25-year-old Pavic was ranked number one in the world rankings at the beginning of July. Last year Pavic and the 38-year-old Austrian qualified for the final tournament in London, where the group phase should come to an end.
Earlier this year Marach/Pavic celebrated their triumph at the Australian Open, played in nine more finals and secured four titles. At the French Open, the successful duo lost to Frenchman Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the final.
The decisive points for the early qualification were collected by Marach/Pavic at the ATP tournament in Hamburg. At Rothenbaum Marach/Pavic won 2:6, 6:4 and 10:7 in the match tiebreak against Daniell/Kolhoff.
“For me, it’s the best tournament in the world. The people and fans in London are simply outstanding,” Pavic told ATP after the news of safe participation in London.
