WTA: See the tournament live in Washington: Livestream and participants Citi Open
As part of preparations for the US Open, the WTA tour will stop in Washington DC from 30 July to 5 August. Among others, Australian Open winner Caroline Wozniacki and last year’s US Open winner Sloane Stephens will be present. SPOX gives an overview of the tournament in the broadcast.
The WTA tournament in Washington DC takes place in the week from July 30 to August 5. The weekend before, the qualifiers were already fighting for a place in the main field. The venue is the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park National Park. It wasn’t until 2012 that the tournament returned to this place after 21 years. At the same time, an ATP men’s tournament will also be held there.
The streaming service DAZN shows the tournament live every day from Tuesday and broadcasts all important matches. Depending on the round, the transmission starts at different times.
In addition to the tournament in Washington, DAZN will present a large selection of WTA tournaments and individual ATP tournaments as well as the Fed Cup and Davis Cup. In addition, the Netflix des Sports broadcasts many other sporting events, such as the top football leagues and the NBA, NFL and NHL. DAZN costs 9,99 Euro per month, whereby there is a free trial month.
The starting field will be led by two current top players on the tour. Caroline Wozniacki and Sloane Stephens are not only the current number 2 and 3 of the world ranking list, but also the reigning winners of the two hard court grand slams.
Wozniacki won her first big title at the Australian Open in January, Sloane Stephens won the US Open last year against compatriot Madison Keys. She also clinched her first tournament victory on the WTA Tour in Washington in 2015.
Naomi Osaka and Anastasija Sevastova are two other players from the top 20.
From a German perspective, Andrea Petkovic and Tatjana Maria will be competing in the tournament, but have little chance of winning the title. However, Petkovic was already in the final once in 2013.
