Wimbledon: Kasatkina and van Uytwanck present

Daria Kasatkina and Alison van Uytwanck were the first players to reach the round of 16 in Wimbledon 2018 on Saturday. The Russian defeated Ashleigh Barty, the Belgian Anett Kontaveit.

Kasatkina, who lost the quarter-final Angelique Kerber in Eastbourne last week, had a bad start against Barty, trailing 4-1. The Australian had entered the match as the player who had won the most matches on grass this year. However, Barty made too many mistakes in the decisive phases, while Kasatkina was also strong on the defensive, winning 7-5 and 6-3 after 73 minutes.

The Russian will meet Alison van Uytvanck on Monta. The Belgian, who had beaten defending champion Garbine Muguruza in round two, left Anett Kontaveit no chance with 6-2 and 6-3.
