ATP Generali Open: Struff/Pütz in semi-final, Oswald has to wait
Jan-Lennard Struff and Tim Pütz are in the semi-finals of the Generali Open 2018: The German Davis Cup double beat Eysseric/Jarry in two sets.
The 7-5, 6-4 victory of Jan-Lennard Struff and Tim Pütz against Nicolas Jarry and Jonathan Eysseric can best be summed up in this way. Because a few minutes after the German Davis Cup double had won their match, a pouring rain set in over the Kitzbühel Tennis Club grounds, which interrupted play until further notice.
Max Mirnyi and his Austrian partner Philipp Oswald, whose match was scheduled to take place on the Center Court after the final quarter-final. Dusan Lajovic and Martin Klizan had to take a break for the Slovakian in the third set at 3:2.
Jürgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner, who benefited from Dominic Thiem’s withdrawal, are already in the semi-finals. Thiem had already given his double with Dennis Novak w.o. in the morning due to shoulder problems.
Struff and Pütz, who were successful for Germany in both Australia and Spain this year, will face Roman Jebavy and Andres Molteni in the semi-final on Friday, who surprisingly won against Julio Peralta and Horacio Zeballos in first place.
