WTA: Qai Qai – or if Serena Williams is suddenly Grandma
Serena Williams is a world star. But the former number one not only shows herself on the social networks, but also her little daughter Alexis Olympia.
Serena Williams (36) has over nine million followers at Instagram alone. It can be assumed that all of these nine million followers now know Alexis Olympia Ohanian very well. The almost one-year-old daughter of the former number one, this sugar-sweet whirlwind, who already has his own (defiant) head from time to time, to the regret of his parents.
Williams, in any case, is not afraid to put the little girl at the centre of her posts. Right or not? Opinions differ on that. Victoria Azaranka, two-time Australian Open winner, also broadcasts pictures of her son Leo again and again on the corresponding “Vika” channels.
But against Williams, the businesswoman, who earned about 86.37 million dollars in prize money in her more than twenty-year-old sportswoman career alone, Azarenka is on the losing side when it comes to baby presence. Since a few weeks even Qai Qai, the doll of Alexis Olympia has her own Twitter account (259 followers). The Williams subsidiary itself has had one since its birth – with a proud 18,500 subscribers.
Now it was the turn of the Mini-Williams’ most loyal playmate when it came to social media. At the tournament in Cincinnati, where she lost to Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic) in the second round, the 23-time Grand Slam winner even had to tell about her “granddaughter” Qai Qai in the press conference.
“Yes, I have to take care of her now, because Olympia lives her own life. She is young – and wants to do that. Olympia wants to be free. But it’s okay: I love Qai Qai,” joked “Grandma” Serena Williams.
