US Open: ComeOn! Match of the day: Marin Cilic in the round of 16 against David Goffin

In the Round of 16 of the US Open 2018, Marin Cilic and David Goffin will fight for a place in the last eight. Which of the two superstars is ahead? The “Match of the day” is presented by betting provider ComeOn!

Two absolute heavyweights of tennis will meet in the round of 16 of the US Open. Marin Cilic vs. David Goffin is the duel for a place in the quarter-finals!

Cilic proved his title ambitions in the first rounds: In the second round he did not give Hubert Hurkacz from Poland the slightest chance at 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0. After a 2-0 set deficit against the young Australian Alex De Minaur, he fought back with strong morale and showed his qualities as a taker. Against Goffin, however, Cilic will have to improve.

The Belgian has been playing strong tennis for several weeks now and eliminated Robin Haase and Jan-Lennard Struff in the previous rounds. The 27-year-old’s body also seems to be back in order after his task against Roger Federer in Cincinnati.

The duel against Cilic will be all about consistency. The Croatian pushes the balls into the field with unbelievable speed and makes only a few mistakes. But Goffin also likes it when the balls move fast – but he shouldn’t give Cilic too many opportunities to counter.

In the sixth duel – three of which were won by the Belgians – Cilic is the easy favourite. Betting provider ComeOn! spends a quota of 1.42 for the Croatian. Goffin enters the game as an easy outsider and gets a score of 2.95.
