Davis Cup: Great Britain presents the Dutch say goodbye Daniel Nestor

The Davis Cup delegation will continue to feel the tension on Sunday. The British gained an advantage, the Dutch made the first point.

Three nations can already sit back on Sunday and plan for the Davis Cup World Group 2019: Serbia lead 3-0 against India just as unbeatable as the Argentines against Colombia, Japan have meanwhile even beaten 4-0.

Haariger, on the other hand, will be in charge for several other teams, not least the Austrians, for whom Dominic Thiem is to score the third point.

But the Netherlands still have a chance in Canada after Jean-Julien Rojer and Matwe Middelkoop defeated the hosts in personae Vasek Posipisil and the indestructible Daniel Nestor in four sets. For Nestor, the defeat marked the end of a 27-year career.

Jamie Murray and Dominic Inglot also needed four sets against Denis Istomin and Sanjar Fayziev. The turning point in this match was the tiebreak in round two, which the British won 10:8. Great Britain thus leads 2-1 against Uzbekistan.

Like the Hungarians against the Czech Republic (Gabor Borsos and Peter Nagy were down 2-0) and the Swedes in Switzerland. For the latter, however, the ITF should have a wild card ready for the Davis Cup final round in 2019: So the top players Roger Federer and/or Stan Wawrinka would be ready for a mission.
