WTA: Parmentier wins title in Québec City
French rider Pauline Parmentier has won her fourth WTA title in Québec City, Canada.
The eight seeded parmentier won the final against US qualifier Jessica Pegula 7-5, 6-2, securing her second tournament victory of the year. In March she had already won in Istanbul – also a tournament in the WTA International category. Parmentier is once again among the world’s top 50 – 48th in the new world rankings.
Also for opponent Pegula the final was a complete success. On the way to the final, the 24-year-old defeated two seeded Petra Martic and five-placed Sofia Kenin, among others, made up 86 places in the WTA ranking and is now ranked 141st Pegula, former protégé of former Sharapova coach Michael Joyce, who missed a year and a half between 2013 and 2015 due to a knee injury and also missed most of the 2017 season.
