WTA: Petkovic drops out in Guangzhou semi-final against Wang

Andrea Petkovic has no chance in the Guangzhou semi-final. Against Qiang Whan, they lose 2:6 and 2:6.

Remarkable: Petkovic only managed one of her eight service games, but managed three breaks despite the smooth defeat. Nevertheless, the Darmstadt-based player delivered a disappointing performance against the Chinese and consequently lost out.

After victories over Lizette Cabrera, Yafan Wang and Vera Lapko, Petkovic had gained self-confidence, but against the 26-year-old Petkovic, who dropped back to 85th place, did almost nothing at all. However, this was also due to her great playing opponent.

In the second set the Chinese shot 0:2 into a fast 6:2 and was determined as a finalist after only 85 minutes. There she will face the winner of the match between Yulia Putintseva and Bernarda Pera.
