WTA: Pliskova ends Osaka winning streak in Tokyo final

Karolina Pliskova has finished the winning streak of Naomi Osaka. The Czech won the final of the WTA Premier Tournament in Tokyo in two sets.

Naomi Osaka can still lose after all. The 20-year-old Japanese had won ten matches in a row before the final match in Tokyo, where she had not handed a single set until the final against Karolina Pliskova, but the Czech had a good day – and after 63 minutes of play and 6:4 and 6:4 as the winner of the court.

This was Pliskova’s eleventh tournament victory at all, the second in the current season after his success at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. The success also underscored the nerves of the former world number one, who have now won their last four finals.

“This arena is simply great,” enthused the winner after the final. “I’ve had a lot of fun this week.” This will also be reflected in the Porsche Race to Singapore. There Karolina Pliskova is back in the top eight.

Naomi Osaka must wait at least a year for a home win. In both sets she gave her serve in the ninth game, Pliskova took the first break chance and then served out safely.
