ATP: Dominic Thiem with new sponsor in the footsteps of Vonn and Hirscher
Dominic Thiem has the next success – this time off court. Austria’s number one is entering into a partnership with the Salzburg beverage group Red Bull.
The rumour mill was already boiling at the Davis Cup in Graz, now it will be official on this Saturday: Dominic Thiem and Red Bull will go together in the future. Thiem, who won his first title in the hall last week in St. Petersburg, took over the pre-announcement of the deal himself, as befits Instagram.
The Salzburg-based beverage company has been well established in the sports sector for years, especially in extreme sports, Formula 1 and football. In addition, individual athletes such as the ski aces Lindsey Vonn, Aksel-Lund Svindal and Marcel Hirscher are sponsored by Red Bull. In terms of tennis, the commitment has been limited to the presence at the #NextGen-Masters in Milan last year.
Dominic Thiem will not play there due to his age. The next two tasks for the 25-year-old Lichtenwörther are the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai and his home event in the Vienna Stadthalle. The aim is to secure the starting place at the ATP final in London. At the moment Thiem is in seventh place in the annual ranking.
