Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic are in the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Beijing. The Australian Open Champions defeated Marcus Daniell and Wesley Koolhof in the match tiebreak.
Nothing for the faint hearted: Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic kept their quarter-finals at the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Beijing thrilling until the end – and after a playing time of almost two hours they turned their third match point against New Zealander Marcus Daniell and his envious partner Wesley Koolhof into 5:7, 7:6 (4) and 14:12.
Just the decision turned out to be a thriller: Daniell/Kohlhof took a 3-0 lead in the match tiebreak, Marach/Pavic could not only equal the score, they even came up with a mini-break. From the score of 10:9 for the Austrian-Croatian pairing there were alternate match points – in the end it was the pair set at position one that entered the preliminary round.
There Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic meet Nikola Mektic and Ivan Dodig. Pavic last played for Croatia in the Davis Cup with the latter, while Mektic is Alexander Peya’s regular doubles partner, who is currently forced to take a break due to injury.
