WTA: Karolina Pliskova and Caroline Garcia play for Tianjin title

The Czech Karolina Pliskova and the French Caroline Garcia have reached the final of the WTA International in Tianjin, China.

Pliskova defeated the Swiss Timea Bacsinszky 6:2, 6:1 in the first semi-final match and thus stays well in the race for the tickets to Singapore – especially since competitor Kiki Bertens failed early at the parallel tournament in Linz.

“Her game suits me pretty well,” said the 26-year-old about the long injured ex-top-10 player Bacsinszky, who celebrated a great success with her victory over Aryna Sabalenka and will make up almost 100 places in the upcoming world rankings and rank 235.

Pliskova will face Caroline Garcia in the game for the title – and other important points for the season final – who won 6:3, 6:4 against Su-Wei Hsieh from China. Garcia had already led 5-1 in run two, had to fend off a Chinese match ball for 5-5 equalization and used her second match ball shortly afterwards for her first final entry in 2018. However, the world rankings-16. has no chance on the WTA Finals.
