ITF-Round-up: Strombachs and Böhler get titles

Robert Strombachs and Dominik Böhler have confirmed their good form of the last weeks – and again celebrated a tournament victory.

Strombachs won the final in Monastir (Tunisia, 15,000 US dollars) as an unseeded player against Alexey Zakharov from Russia, who was listed at five. Strombachs had defeated Quentin Robert in two sets in round two.

For the 19-year-old it was the second individual title on the ITF Pro Circuit, two weeks ago he had won his premiere title, also in Monastir. Strombachs will be ranked 760th in the world next week thanks to his points for victory, the highest he has ever been. (The points of the Future Tournaments will not be included in the world ranking until one week later.

Strombachs was just as successful in the doubles – at the side of Bernardo Azevedo Pereira e Oliveira from Brazil he won 3:6, 6:2, [10:1] against Quentin Robert/Hugo Schott.

Meanwhile, Dominik Böhler won the tournament in Bad Salzdetfurth, also endowed with 15,000 US dollars, and celebrated his third victory on the ITF Pro Circuit. Böhler was seeded in fourth position and after a smooth semi-final victory he won the cup with a nerve-bound 7:6 (8), 4:6, 7:6 (8) over Vadym Ursu from Ukraine. The top seeded Louis Wessels was eliminated in round two. Böhler, too, will move up the world rankings by 550th place as never before.

In the double competition Mats Rosenkranz won at the side of the Czech Petr Nouza with 4:6, 6:3, [14:12] against Altug Celikbilek/Hugo Voljacques.

Stephanie Wagner reached the women’s semi-finals at the ITF tournament in Santa Margherita di Pula/Italy (25,000 US dollars).

At ATP-Challenger level, Tobias Kamke made it to the semi-finals in Tashkent/Uzbekistan, where he lost to Kamil Majchrzal 6-7 (2), 3-6. The winner of the tournament was Canadian youngster Felix Auger-Aliassime with a 6-3, 6-2 final win, his fourth Challenger title overall and his second in 2018.
