Erste Bank Open: Vienna: Klatsche against Herbert – Juri Rodionov misses main draw
Juri Rodionov missed the main draw at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna. The Austrian had to concede a clear 1:6, 2:6 defeat against Pierre Hugues Herbert in the qualifying semi-final of the ATP-500 event.
Juri Rodionov could not win the match against the Frenchman Pierre Hugues Herbert.
The local hero fell behind against the doubles specialist early on and had too much pressure with the prospect of the main field in Vienna, which he could not withstand. The 19-year-old made too many slight mistakes, which his counterpart gratefully accepted.
After only 24 minutes, Herbert turned his first set point into a clear 6-1 lead.
Also in set two Rodionov did not find his way into the game and had to give up his service again early. The youngster also lost his third service game and the hopes in the Rodionov appendage gradually disappeared.
Herbert served as strong as usual, acted solidly and with a lot of calm. The experience won on this qualifying Saturday the points and Rodionov paid tribute to his inexperience.
At the score of 2:5 there was still hope for the Austrian: Rodionov worked his way up to two break points which Herbert was able to fend off and after just under an hour he could not win the match.
