WTA: Annika Beck ends her active career

Anna Beck ends her active tennis career. From now on, the German wants to concentrate more on her medical studies.

Four years ago, the 24-year-old celebrated her first tournament victory in Luxembourg. One year later she celebrated her second and last career title. Beck beat Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia in two sets in the Quebec final.

Since 2017, however, the German has suffered repeated setbacks. She had to admit defeat 14 times in the first round, whereupon rumours about the end of her career were already circulating last year.

One year later, the time has finally come: Beck will “set new priorities in her life” and devote himself to her medical studies. This requires their “full commitment and attention”.

Tennis is now at the back of the queue, even if the love of sport is still there. Beck would like to thank her companions and loyal fans in particular.
