ATP: Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury win double title in Vienna
Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury have won the double competition at the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Vienna. The British duo defeated Mike Bryan and Edouard Roger Vasselin in the final.
The first break of the entire match paved the way for Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury to win the final in Vienna: Edouard Roger-Vasselin had to give up his serve in the eighth game of the second set. The Frenchman had the chance to make up for the Faux-Pas – but the return of the Frenchman was too high, Skupski/Salisbury went 5:3. And won after a playing time of 1:15 hours with 7:6 (5) and 6:3.
This year Skupski had already won the title in Montpellier with his brother Ken and Salisbury in Shenzhen alongside Ben McLachlan.
For Mike Bryan it would have been the 121st tournament win on the ATP Tour, the fifth of the year. With brother Bob he won Miami and Monte Carlo, with Jack Sock the trophies in Wimbledon and last at the US Open. Sock was engaged in the current week in Basel, next week at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bércy the two Americans will serve together again.
